Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has defended Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka against pressure over his political engagements, insisting that the former Vice President should not work with President William Ruto.
Gachagua said he had worked with Kalonzo for two years and described him as a trustworthy leader who would not betray Kenyans.
He urged critics, particularly those questioning Kalonzo’s political direction, to stop targeting him during public meetings and instead engage him through what he described as family discussions.

Addressing congregation at Kikuyu on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Gachagua said Kalonzo belonged to a trusted political family and that any concerns about his decisions should be presented to him as the family’s spokesperson.
“Si vile mmezoea. Mimi nimekaa naye mwaka mbili. Huyu ni kiongozi ya kuaminika na huwezi saliti watu ya Kenya,” Gachagua said.
Stop pressuring Kalonzo
He specifically appealed to residents of Taita Taveta and other critics to stop pressuring Kalonzo over his political choices.
“Lakini tukikaa kama familia tunaweza kubali Kalonzo aende kwa Ruto? Familia inaweza kubali?” he posed.

The former Deputy President maintained that he and Kalonzo were working together, describing the Wiper leader as a Kenyan committed to what he termed the country’s liberation.
He also asked critics to stop heckling Kalonzo at political gatherings, arguing that concerns about his political future should be addressed through direct discussions rather than public confrontation.
Murkomen warns Kalonzo
This comes as Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen challenged the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to reconsider his political alliances, warning that his association with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna could frustrate his ambitions for national leadership.

Murkomen dismissed the show of support witnessed at the Linda Mwananchi rally, telling Kalonzo not to mistake the crowd’s reception for a reliable political backing ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a pointed message to the former Vice President on Saturday, October 27, 2026, the CS claimed Sifuna and his allies would not support Kalonzo’s presidential ambitions, despite their growing political engagements.
“If you think Sifuna and the team will support you, Kalonzo, you are fully mistaken. Mimi ni rafiki yako. Tafadhali tafuta njia mwafaka yenye unatafuta uongozi,” Murkomen said.
He invoked his past association with Sifuna, claiming the Nairobi senator was once part of his university youth wing when he served as a student leader.
