Tickets for the historic Bayern Munich versus Ajax Amsterdam exhibition match at the Raila Odinga International Stadium in Nairobi are selling fast after the exercise officially kicked off on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 6:00 pm East Africa Time.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya in a statement announced that tickets for the January 5, 2027 encounter will be sold exclusively through the official Talanta Sports City website, with prices starting from Ksh2,500.
The match will mark the official inauguration of the newly built Raila Odinga International Stadium at Talanta Sports City, with the government describing the fixture as a major milestone in Kenya’s ambition to host international sporting events.
According to Mvurya’s statetement on November 5, 2026, ticket sales will be conducted in phases across different seating categories.
Supporters have been urged to purchase their tickets only through official channels and to make payments to verified accounts amid concerns over fraudulent ticketing links and transactions.
“Supporters are encouraged to secure their tickets within the announced sales windows, as availability in sold-out categories cannot be guaranteed in subsequent phases,” the CS said.
The government also confirmed that skyboxes and premium hospitality packages will be available for fans seeking an exclusive matchday experience.
The Bayern-Ajax fixture is expected to attract significant international attention, with the government positioning it as an opportunity to demonstrate Kenya’s ability to stage major global sporting events.
The statement said preparations for the match are already at an advanced stage, with organisers planning a 12-hour fan festival featuring international entertainment and other activities before and around the game.
Strongest squads promised
The Ministry also sought to assure fans that the match will feature the first teams of both European giants.

According to the statement, Bayern Munich and Ajax have made written commitments to field their strongest possible starting line-ups for the encounter.
The government stressed that the fixture will not be a legends’ match or an academy-team exhibition.
“Let me be absolutely clear: this will not be a legends match or an academy-team exhibition,” the statement said.
Instead, organisers expect the two clubs to bring their first-team squads to Kenya for what has been billed as one of the country’s biggest international football spectacles.
AFCON 2027 test
Beyond the inauguration of the Talanta stadium, the Bayern-Ajax match is expected to provide Kenya with an important test ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Kenya will co-host AFCON 2027 with Uganda and Tanzania, and the government views the January 2027 fixture as a dress rehearsal for the continental tournament.
The match will give organisers an opportunity to test stadium operations, security arrangements, transport systems, hospitality services and crowd management under the pressure of a major international football event.
The government also said the fixture would help demonstrate the commercial potential of Kenya’s sports industry, particularly in attracting investment and promoting sports tourism.
The statement added that the Bayern Munich-Ajax encounter is being funded through private-sector support, which it said reflects growing confidence in the commercial potential of Kenya’s sports industry.
With tickets starting at Ksh2,500, the January 5, 2027 encounter is expected to draw thousands of football fans to Talanta Sports City as Kenya prepares to showcase its new stadium on an international stage.
