A multi-agency security operation in Marsabit County has led to the destruction of more than 3,660 litres of illicit alcohol and the dismantling of several illegal brewing dens.
The operation, conducted on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, brought together officers from the National Police Service (NPS), National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO) and the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).
“A major multi-agency security operation conducted yesterday, 23 September 2026, in Marsabit County led to the dismantling of several illicit brewing dens and the destruction of over 3,660 litres of illicit brew along with various brewing instruments,” NPS said.

Other items destroyed
According to the National Police Service statement on Thursday, September 24, 2026, officers also seized and destroyed various equipment used in the illegal manufacture of alcohol during the operation.
The multi-agency team said the operation was aimed at disrupting the production and distribution of illicit brews, which authorities have linked to concerns over public safety and alcohol abuse in affected communities.
The NPS commended the participating agencies for what it described as seamless coordination during the crackdown.

“The crackdown targeted key brewing flashpoints across Marsabit Central and Sagante-Jaldesa Sub-counties that included Nagayo, Sagante, and Badasa Locations,” NPS stated.
“The National Police Service commends the multi-agency personnel for their seamless coordination and issues a stern warning to those engaging in the illegal manufacture, distribution and consumption of illicit alcohol.”
Authorities further warned individuals involved in the manufacture, distribution and consumption of illicit alcohol that they risk facing legal action.
The police urged residents to provide information on suspected illicit brewing activities to the nearest police station.
