Kenya Power announces planned power interruptions in 5 areas on Friday, September 4

Kenya Power has announced planned power maintenance that will affect customers in parts of Nandi, Kisumu, Nyeri and Nakuru counties on Friday, September 4, 2026.

The utility company said the scheduled interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance work on the power network. Affected customers have been advised to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the outages.

“The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow ( 04.09.2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance. We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operations,” Kenya Power noted.

Areas affected

In Nandi County, customers in Kimwani, Mberere and surrounding areas will experience an interruption from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Kisumu County, the outage will affect Chemelil and surrounding areas between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Areas listed include Chemelil Market, Gotwinyithindo Primary School, Powerteng, Onyalo Biro, Ayiecho Olweny Secondary School, Ng’eny Primary School and Chinese Quarry, among other neighbouring customers.

In Nyeri County, Kenya Power has listed two separate areas for maintenance.

Customers around Kangubiri Girls and Ihigaini will be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Sagana Falls Station, Ihigaini, Gakoe Coffee Factory, Kaigonde, Kangubiri Girls, Mr Kanyi, Dansun and Kiunge, among other adjacent areas.

The second interruption in Nyeri will affect Ihururu Market and Mwenji, also from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected areas include Mwenji, Mwenji Market, Ihururu Village, Muhoya Drive, Kabendera, Nyamakuyu TBC, Nyamakuyu PCEA, and Ihururu Town.

Meanwhile, customers in Mai Mahiu, in the North Eastern/Central Rift regions, will experience a longer interruption running from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected areas include River Springs Hotel, Mayers, Namja, China Wu-Yi, Gold Stone Quarry, Manyata Quarry, Yellow Stones Quarry, Kingston Quarry, Ewaso Kedong Market, Najire Girls and Earth Station, as well as adjacent customers.

Kenya Power has urged affected customers to plan accordingly and treat all power lines as live during the maintenance period, as electricity may be restored earlier than the scheduled time.
