Kenya Power has announced a planned power interruption affecting parts of Pangani in Nairobi and selected areas of Meru County on Friday, October 16, 2026, as part of scheduled electricity maintenance.
According to the electricity distributor’s notice, the planned maintenance will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with affected customers advised to prepare for a temporary electricity outage during the eight-hour maintenance window.
The scheduled interruption will affect customers in two regions: Nairobi and the Mt. Kenya region.
Nairobi power interruption: Parts of Pangani
In Nairobi, the planned electricity maintenance will affect parts of Pangani and surrounding areas.
Kenya Power has listed Forest Road, Chai Road, Agoi Road and Pamba Road among the locations expected to experience the interruption. The outage will also affect adjacent customers within the designated maintenance area.
Residents, businesses and other electricity consumers in the affected parts of Pangani should plan their activities around the scheduled interruption, particularly those relying on electricity for business operations, household activities and other essential services.
Customers are encouraged to make the necessary preparations before the scheduled maintenance begins at 9:00 a.m.
Meru County power outage: Mikumbune and Ntemwene
In the Mt. Kenya region, the planned power interruption will affect selected locations in Meru County, particularly Mikumbune and Ntemwene.

According to the Kenya Power notice, the affected areas and facilities include Mikumbune Market, Gaatia Market, Kandigi Coffee Factory, Macikine Secondary School, Kiorone, National Oil, Ntemwene, Kagwampungu, Kabyoo and Kieru Coffee Factory.
The notice also indicates that customers adjacent to the listed locations will be affected.
The maintenance is scheduled for the same period as the Nairobi interruption, running from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
Residents, traders, institutions and businesses in Mikumbune, Ntemwene and the surrounding areas should therefore take precautions to minimise disruption during the planned electricity shutdown.
