Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed he will reveal the identities of people allegedly involved in the killing of Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso if the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) fails to disclose the truth during its scheduled media briefing.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Thursday, August 7, 2026, Gachagua accused the DCI of planning to cover up the circumstances surrounding Dr Mutiso’s death and instead blame boda boda riders.
“Bwana DCI, I have seen you have called a press conference to cover up the police killers of Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso and then fix some boda boda riders,” Gachagua wrote.
Gachagua alleges police cover-up
He further alleged that he had received information identifying three police officers whom he claimed were responsible for the killing.
“I have the names of the three police killers from Murkomen’s community whom you have been instructed to cover up. We shall release the details after your presser if you attempt a cover up,” he said.
Gachagua went on to claim that the DCI should identify an inspector attached to Kikuyu Police Station, a constable from the same station and another constable based at Karinde Police Post.
“You must name the inspector from Kikuyu Police Station, the constable from the same police station and the other constable from Karinde police post,” he stated.
The former deputy president also claimed that unnamed police officers had supplied him with information about the case.
“Good officers have given me all the details and your days of covering up killings by police officers must come to an end,” Gachagua added.
Calls for DCI to reveal full details
He further called on the DCI to allow officers he described as members of the “Nairobi sierra killer squad,” whom he claimed had been transferred out of Nairobi, to attend the media briefing.
“Allow the Nairobi sierra killer squad you have transferred out of Nairobi to attend the presser. They want to tell Kenyans and name the persons who have been instructing them and how they are now being victimized,” he said.
The DCI had scheduled the press conference to address the ongoing investigations into Dr Victoria Mutiso’s death. The agency had not responded publicly to Gachagua’s allegations by the time of publication.
