Kenya Power announces planned blackouts in 3 counties on Wednesday, September 9

Residents and businesses in parts of Nairobi, Machakos and Uasin Gishu counties will experience power interruptions on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, as Kenya Power undertakes scheduled maintenance work.

The planned outages will affect several residential estates, institutions and businesses, with most areas expected to remain without electricity between 9 am and 5 pm.

Nairobi

In Nairobi, customers in South C will be affected from 9 am to 5 pm.

The affected areas include parts of Muhoho Avenue, Rubis Muhoho Avenue, Mama Ngina Children’s Home, Muhuti Avenue, Mutelo Road, Mugoya Estate, Mnali Estate, Fedha Apartments, Parkview Apartments, Kuguru Estate and parts of Ole Shapara Avenue.

Other affected locations include Reliance Hospital, Kenya Water Institute (KEWI), Al Jazeera, Uchumi Road, Parkview Estate, Heshima Estate, Five Star Estates 1 and 2, Olive Road, parts of Kawi Complex Road, Five Star Road, Reality Estate, Midland Court, Halai Estate, Ruby Estate, Memon Estate and Akiba Estate.

Parts of Muthaiga will also be without electricity during the same period.

The affected facilities and neighbourhoods include Utalii Hotel, KCA University, Traffic Headquarters, Stima Club, Muthaiga Police Station, Mathari Referral Hospital, Mathari Secondary School, KMTC, Muthaiga Golf Club, Muthaiga Primary School, Muthaiga Square, Vuli Lane, Wambui Road and Mathari Police Residence and Depot.

Enterprise Road

Customers along Road B and parts of Enterprise Road will also be affected between 9 am and 5 pm.

The areas listed include Wood Products, Kobil Petroleum, Ng’ombe, Tiles and Carpets, MCI Products, Kuguru Close, Epco Builders, Bhachu Industries, Road B, Megh Cushion, Kenya Hydraulics, Trans Africa Motors, Sonado, Fargo Courier, Falcon Road and Mukuru kwa Reuben Hospital, among other adjacent customers.

Machakos

In Machakos County, planned maintenance will affect Ilpolosat and Konza from 9am to 5pm.

Affected areas include the Konza Data Center, Kwa Mbindyo, parts of Konza City, Konza ABC, Konza Market, Konza Railway, Mumo Matemo and Malili Safaricom, alongside neighbouring customers.

North Rift

In the North Rift, customers in Moiben and Koisagat will experience a longer interruption, running from 9 am to 6 pm.

The affected areas include Moiben, Bidii Primary School, Koisagat and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled maintenance period.

The company routinely carries out planned maintenance to facilitate system upgrades, repairs and other works aimed at improving the reliability of electricity supply.
