Kenya Airways issues fresh update on JKIA flight disruptions

Kenya Airways has warned passengers of continued flight disruptions at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), with delays now stretching beyond six hours amid industrial action by Air Traffic Control (ATC) workers.

In a customer update dated Monday, August 31, the national carrier said the ongoing disruption had created a significant flight backlog, forcing it to reschedule and cancel some flights.

The airline said its teams were working around the clock to manage the situation and proactively reschedule flights as the disruption evolves.

“Due to the flight backlog, we have had to reschedule and cancel some flights,” Kenya Airways said.

The latest update comes as aviation disruptions continue to affect operations at JKIA, with passengers facing prolonged delays and uncertainty over their travel plans.

The airline urged customers to check their flight status through its website or KQ Mobile App before heading to JKIA.

Passengers have also been asked to update their contact details through the Manage Booking section on the airline’s website or mobile application to ensure they receive the latest notifications concerning changes to their flights.

The carrier apologised for the inconvenience caused by the disruption, saying the safety of its customers and crew remained its highest priority.

Kenya Airways also confirmed that passengers who wish to change or reschedule their flights can do so without penalty.

The latest statement is a further escalation from the airline’s Sunday update, when it reported average delays of two to three hours due to operational constraints within ATC services.
