Police in Nairobi have arrested two persons of interest and recovered 770 rolls of suspected bhang following a raid on a residential premise in Grogon B area of Korogocho, Starehe Sub-County.
The operation was conducted on Sunday, September 27, 2026, by officers attached to Korogocho Police Station after members of the public alerted them to individuals allegedly packaging suspected illicit drugs inside the premises.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), the officers were conducting routine patrols in the area when they received the tip-off.
“While on routine patrol in the area, the officers received a tip-off from members of the public regarding individuals packaging suspected illicit drugs within a residential premise,” NPS said.
The officers acted on the information and proceeded to the reported premises, where they arrested two persons of interest and recovered the suspected cannabis.
“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the officers raided the premises, arresting the two suspects and confiscating 770 rolls of bhang intended for distribution,” the police service said.
The recovered bhang was secured by police as an exhibit, while the two persons of interest were placed in custody at Korogocho Police Station pending arraignment in court.
Public tip-off leads police to Korogocho drug raid
The operation followed information supplied by residents, highlighting the role of public alerts in helping police identify suspected illicit drug activity within residential areas.
NPS thanked members of the public for their vigilance and cooperation, saying information from residents remains important in efforts to disrupt the distribution of narcotic substances.
“Illicit drugs and narcotic substance abuse destroy lives, fuel crime, and tear apart the social fabric of our communities,” NPS said.
The service said it would continue targeting networks involved in the distribution of illicit drugs across the country.
“The National Police Service reiterates its unwavering commitment to dismantling illegal drug trafficking networks across the country,” the statement said.
NPS also urged members of the public to report suspected criminal activity to the nearest police station.
“We urge members of the public to remain vigilant and continue sharing timely, actionable information at the nearest police station,” the service said.
The 770 rolls of suspected bhang remain secured as exhibits, while the two persons of interest remain in police custody pending court proceedings.
