Kenya Power announces Sunday power outages in five counties

Kenya Power has announced planned power maintenance in parts of five counties on Sunday, October 4, with some areas expected to remain without electricity for up to eight hours.

The affected counties are Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Kisumu, Kiambu and Mombasa, with outages scheduled between 9 am and 5 pm, depending on the area.

In a notice issued on Sunday, October 4, 2026, morning, Kenya Power asked customers in the affected areas to take note of the scheduled maintenance.

“Good morning. Kindly note that the listed areas will be under planned power maintenance today,” Kenya Power said.

Nairobi County

In Nairobi, parts of Parklands will be without electricity from 9 am to 5 pm.

Affected areas include 4th Parklands, Masari Road, Kusi Lane, Ngao Road, Suswa Road, Wangapala Road, KPLC Staff Quarters, Diamond 1 and 2, Presidential Escort and adjacent customers.

The utility will also undertake maintenance behind Kenya Pipeline along the railway line, affecting customers between 9 am and 5 pm.

The listed areas include Eastlands College, Rubis Depot, Uzuri Foods, Mogadishu Road, Olkarau Road, Pate Road, Runyenjes Road, Cera Coating, parts of Nanyuki Road and adjacent customers.

Uasin Gishu County

In Uasin Gishu, customers around Eldoret GK Prison will experience an outage from 9 am to 5 pm.

Other affected areas include Sirikwa Hotel, MUSCO Towers, County Government of Uasin Gishu, Goshen Hotel, Cicada Hotel, Eastern Avenue, Zion Mall, Komora, St Matthews ACK, Moi Girls’ High School and adjacent customers.

Kisumu County

In Kisumu, planned maintenance will affect parts of Majengo, Mbale, Chavakali and Kaimosi from 10am to 5pm.

The affected areas include Shoka Maize Millers, Mudete Transformer, Sabatia Eye Hospital, Mbale Market, Serem Market, Majengo Market, Gambogi Market, Kitigu Goldmine, Chavakali Market, Iregi TTC, Kaimosi University and Makhokho, among other areas.

Kiambu County

In Kiambu, customers in Garissa Road, Makongeni and Gatuanyaga will be affected from 9am to 5pm.

The areas listed include Kisii Estate, Thika Barracks, MKU Pavilion, Landless Estate, Muguga Market, Gatuanyaga Market, Gatuanyaga Primary School, parts of Makongeni, Makongeni Police Station, KCB Makongeni, St Mulumba Catholic Church, Carter Oakhill School and Glorious Fountain Academy.

Mombasa County

In Mombasa, planned maintenance in Shimanzi will run from 9am to 5pm.

Affected customers include those around East Africa Terminals Ltd, Salvochem, Mahindi Station, Vivo Energy Kenya, East African Storage, Ola Energy, Kismayu Road, part of Shimanzi Road, Kitui Flour Mills Makande and Bandari Clinic.

Kenya Power advised customers in the affected areas to plan ahead and take note of the scheduled maintenance as the utility carries out work on its network.
