Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in eight counties on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, with scheduled outages affecting parts of Nairobi, Kakamega, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Nyeri, Embu and Kitui.
The planned maintenance will affect different areas at varying times, with the earliest interruption beginning at 8.00 a.m. and some outages continuing until 5.00 p.m.
Customers in the affected areas have been advised to plan for the temporary loss of electricity during the scheduled maintenance periods.
Nairobi power cuts
Several parts of Nairobi will experience power interruptions between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.
In Raphta Road and Lantana, affected areas include Raphta Road, Consolata Church, Lantana Road, David Oseile Road, Church Road, part of Mahiga Mahiru, Ring Road Westlands, East Church Road, Fox Close, part of Mvuli Road, Rehema House, Oracle, Kipro Centre, Waridi School and Chandarana Raphta Road, as well as adjacent customers.
Customers in Riverside Drive and Mzima Springs will also be affected. The listed areas include part of Riverside Drive, Riverside Gardens, Mzima Springs Road, part of Tende Drive, Riverside Lane, Strathmore High School, IOM Mzima Springs, Mandari Kindergarten, the German Embassy, Uganda High Commission, Riverside Square, One Riverside, Riverside Paddocks, Millennium Apartments, Key Stone Office Park and Riverside Mews.
Power will also be interrupted along Mombasa Road and around Serena Hotel and St. Andrews, with the scheduled window running from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Western Kenya outages
In Kakamega County, the Khayega area will experience an interruption from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Areas listed include Iguhu Hospital, Khayega, Makhokho Secondary School, Shishesia, Ivonda and Shirere.
In Kisumu County, customers in Tido and Cibo will experience outages from 9.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Tido includes Tido Primary School, Mbeme Primary School, Ooko Market, Kolewe and Rarieda. Cibo covers Tamu, Cibo and White Coal Kibos Industries.
South Nyanza and Mt Kenya
In Homa Bay County, the Yala Kotieno area will be affected from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., including Yala Kotieno Secondary School, Kalanding Secondary School, Ong’amo Dispensary and Rangach Madiny Village.
In Migori County, the Kehancha-Ntimaru outage will run from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and cover Kehancha Town, Kegonga, Ntimaru, Wangirabose, Senta, Kebaroti, Nyamagagana, Namba, Taranganya, Angatta Sugar, Kobinto, Kebare, Matare, Maeta, Kurutiange, Kombe and Koromaguncha.
In Nyeri County, Miiri and Kiangai will experience an interruption from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The listed locations include Miiri Market, Miiri Kiawaiguru, Kiangai, Maganjo, Kiangai Market, Kianyange, Kiangai Coffee Factory, Kianwe, Thunguri Coffee Factory, Borokelo, Karerahungu, Njumbi, Kiahiti TBC, Kiriko TBC, Gitundumo TBC, Kiambogo Village and Kiaragana Village.
Embu and Kitui
In Embu County, areas around Gachoka, Meka, Muraru and Rwika will be affected from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The notice lists Embu Airstrip, Don Bosco, Jeremiah Nyagah Technical, Gachoka Market and DO’s, Kuku Afya, Kangeta, Fides, Highland Canners, Gachuriri Market, Yonder Water Pumps, Rugakori Primary, Kamucinga, Muraru Market, Muraru Primary, Meca Market, Kangungi Primary, Mbita Primary, Kamwimbi Primary and Emidan Farm.
In Kitui County, customers in Kangweni, Nzangathi and Kanzauwu will experience an interruption from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The affected areas include Kangweni, Kivumbuni, Kwa Makombo, Nzangathi and Kanzauwu.
Kenya Power’s scheduled maintenance notices are issued to facilitate work on electricity infrastructure and network operations.
Customers in the affected locations should make arrangements for the scheduled interruption and take note of their specific area’s start and end times.
