Police in Garissa have arrested two persons of interest allegedly linked to a series of violent robberies across the region after an intelligence-led operation in Bulla Sagarey.
The two were apprehended on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, by officers based at Garissa Police Station during a coordinated operation targeting people linked to robbery with violence incidents, according to a statement issued by the National Police Service on Wednesday, September 30.
Police said the duo were armed with machetes when they were arrested in the Bulla Sagarey area.
The National Police Service said the operation followed intelligence gathered by officers as part of efforts to disrupt criminal activity in Garissa and other parts of the region.

According to the police statement, the two persons of interest are linked to “a series of violent robberies across the region.”
Their arrest followed what police described as a “coordinated intelligence-led operation” conducted by officers from Garissa Police Station.
Police did not provide details of the specific robbery incidents the two are alleged to be connected to, nor did the statement disclose the identities of those arrested.
The two are currently being held at Garissa Police Station as officers process the case ahead of their expected appearance in court.
“They are currently being held at Garissa Police Station, awaiting processing and arraignment in court to face the relevant charges,” the National Police Service said.

The arrests form part of ongoing police efforts to identify and dismantle criminal networks involved in violent offences.

The National Police Service said it remains focused on disrupting criminal networks and maintaining security across the country.
“The National Police Service remains committed to dismantling criminal networks countrywide and guaranteeing public safety and security,” police said.
The service also called on members of the public to remain vigilant and report information that could help officers prevent or investigate criminal activity.
“Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and share information regarding any suspicious activity with the nearest police station,” the statement said.
The two persons of interest will face the relevant charges once police complete processing and present them before a court.
Their arrest and the allegations against them remain subject to the due process of law.
