Brentford will welcome Chelsea to the Gtech Community Stadium on Friday night, September 18, 2026, for a West London derby with both sides looking to strengthen their position in the Premier League standings.
Chelsea head into the encounter sitting sixth with seven points from their opening four matches, while Brentford occupy seventh place after collecting six points.
Brentford have made an unbeaten start to the season across all competitions, recording three victories and three draws from their six matches. Their latest success came in the EFL Cup, where they defeated Reading 2-1 to reach the next stage.
Keith Andrews’ team began their league campaign in impressive fashion, thrashing Tottenham Hotspur 3-0. However, they have been unable to add another Premier League victory since then, drawing against Leeds United, Sunderland and Bournemouth.
The Bees will therefore be targeting their second league triumph of the campaign when they face Chelsea in their final fixture before the international break.
History at home against Chelsea has not been particularly favourable for Brentford. They have never beaten the Blues in five previous Premier League meetings at home, although the last four encounters at the ground have all ended in draws.

Brentford’s tendency to share the points has been notable, with 10 of their last 14 Premier League matches finishing level.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have endured an eventful opening to the campaign. Their four league games have produced two wins, one draw and one defeat, leaving them with seven points.
Xabi Alonso’s side have been among the division’s most productive attacks, scoring 10 goals so far. Their defensive record, however, has been less impressive, with nine goals conceded.
The Blues were held to a 2-2 draw by Hull City in their most recent league outing. Their previous away match in the Premier League also ended in disappointment, with Chelsea losing 2-1 to defending champions Arsenal.
There was a positive response in the EFL Cup, where Chelsea defeated Leeds United 6-3 at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea also defeated Brentford 2-0 in the previous Premier League meeting between the teams, although the corresponding fixture at Brentford last season ended 2-2.
Brentford’s injury list includes Joshua Dasilva, Antoni Milambo, Nathan Collins, Sepp van den Berg and Kafe Furo. Mathias Jensen is also a doubt as he continues to work on his fitness.
Kevin Schade has been one of Brentford’s key attacking threats this season, scoring three goals in five appearances, while Igor Thiago will be looking to build on his tally of one goal.
Chelsea could have Joao Pedro available despite missing training on Tuesday and withdrawing from Brazil’s squad because of an injury. Reece James was also absent from that session.
Moises Caicedo, Marco Palestra, Emmanuel Emegha and Jordan Henderson are other players whose availability will need to be assessed before kickoff.
Pep Chavarria could be handed a starting role on the left after Jorrel Hato’s difficult display against Hull City. Maxence Lacroix is also expected to return to the side.
Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers have both enjoyed strong starts to the campaign and are expected to retain their places in Chelsea’s attack.
Possible Brentford XI: Kelleher; Kayode, Schuster, Ajer, Lewis-Potter; Janelt, Sangare; Schade, Yarmolyuk, Anthony; Thiago.

Possible Chelsea XI: Martinez; Fofana, Lacroix, Colwill; Neto, Lavia, James, Chavarria; Palmer, J Pedro, Rogers.
With both teams separated by only one point in the table, Friday’s derby promises to be closely contested. Brentford’s recent record of drawing matches and Chelsea’s inconsistency away from home point towards another tight encounter at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Based on how both sides started the new campaign, Chelsea and Brentford could play to a 2-2 stalemate.
