Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in parts of Bungoma, Nyeri and Kiambu counties on Sunday, September 27, 2026, with some areas set to remain without power for up to nine hours.
The interruptions will affect residential areas, businesses, schools, hospitals, government facilities and other customers in the Western and Mt. Kenya regions.
“Good evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow, Sunday, 27-09-2026. The interruption is part of network maintenance. We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operation,” the utility firm said.
According to Kenya Power’s notice, customers in the listed areas should expect interruptions during the specified hours.
Bungoma power interruptions
In Bungoma County, Kenya Power has scheduled interruptions in two areas on Sunday.
Customers in Webuye Jaggery and Kapsokwony will experience a power interruption from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The affected areas include Munyikana, Mwalim House, Section of Dinah, United Millers, Molo, Santa Barbara, Malaha, Sirisia, Bunjosi, Webuye Jaggery, Noah Wekesa, Kapsokwony, Maeni, Malaha, Makhese, Bituyu, Mkulima, Mwangale, Matulo, Milo, Ngwelo, Makhele and Mang’ana, as well as adjacent customers.
A separate interruption covering Mabanga and Malakisi is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kenya Power listed Mabanga, Bungoma Polytechnic, Skata, Matega, Chwele, Terem Power, Malakisi, Butonge, Chepkube, Lwaha, Terem High and Kuiywo Girls among the affected locations, alongside adjacent customers.
Nyeri power interruptions
In Nyeri County, planned electricity interruptions will affect two areas from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The first covers St. Mary and Majengo. Affected customers include St. Mary’s Senior School, some parts of Blue Valley, some parts of Majengo and Consolata Primary School, together with adjacent customers.
The second interruption covers Mary Immaculate and surrounding areas.
The listed locations include Mary Immaculate Hospital, Beatrice Court, parts of Soko Huru, Meeting Point, the County Assembly of Nyeri, Ruring’u, Jacaranda and To Go Is to See Restaurant, as well as adjacent customers.
Kiambu power outage
In Kiambu County, Kenya Power has scheduled a longer interruption covering Ruiru Kimbo and Murera Coffee from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The affected locations include Murera Kimbo, Murera Coffee, Mugutha, Ruiru KU Model School, DC Kwa Kairu, GSU Ruiru, Spur Mall, NIBS, Toll Station and Ruiru Golf Club.
Other areas named in the notice include Mona Park, Mulberry, Kwa Chief, Wankan, Paul Mwai, Happy Church, Courtesy Beach, Green Ridge, Mugutha Secondary, Murera Primary School, St. Martins Catholic Church, Mugutha 1 and 4, Judea Estate, Mugutha Police, Neema Estate, River Line Estate, Dam Ridge Estate, Ruera Dam, Makaburi Village, Wa Kariuki and Apollos, as well as adjacent customers.
