Kenya Power has announced planned electricity maintenance in several parts of the country on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, with customers in selected areas expected to experience power interruptions during the day.
The scheduled maintenance will affect customers in the Nairobi, Central Rift, Western and North Eastern regions, according to notices issued by the utility.
The interruptions will begin at different times depending on the location. The earliest outage is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m., while most of the affected areas are expected to have their electricity supply restored by 5:00 p.m.
In Nairobi, the planned maintenance will affect parts of Loresho from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected locations include Kaptagat Road, Thego Lane, Lions, Coopers Shinyaru Road, Qaribu Inn, Waiyaki Way, Loresho Primary School, Loresho Ridge, Kibagare Way and the Police Training School.
In Kericho County, parts of Changoi are scheduled to experience a power interruption from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The affected section includes the Changoi Tea Factory water pump and adjacent customers.
In Kajiado County, customers in Chuna, Police Sacco and Kimalat will be without electricity from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The interruption will also affect St Lliana, Polar Junior, Deliverance Road, Baraka Road, Balozi Road, New Valley, Upper Valley and surrounding areas.
In Kisumu County, the scheduled maintenance will affect the Miguye area from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Customers within the affected area have been advised to prepare for the temporary interruption in electricity supply.
The notice also lists several areas in Kiambu County for planned maintenance from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected locations include St Linda, Gatong’ora and Kiratina, as well as Gwa Kairu, Riverside, Thome, Vision Park, Kenya Project, part of Bypass, Miti Kenda, Karuguru, Mashinani, Kiratina Village, Kiratina Primary School, Section of Bypass Corner, Mutonya Dispensary, Kwa China, Sewage, Kwihota and the Gituamba Water Project.
Kenya Power has urged customers in the affected areas to plan and make the necessary arrangements before the scheduled interruptions. Businesses, institutions and households that depend on electricity for essential operations may need to make alternative arrangements during the maintenance period.
The utility has also reminded customers that its representatives will not ask for sensitive personal information, including PINs, bank details or M-Pesa information, when handling customer complaints.
