Police in Ruai have arrested an 18-year-old woman after she allegedly attempted to smuggle jailbreak tools to three remanded suspects concealed inside a plate of rice and meat.

The woman reportedly arrived at Ruai Police Station posing as a visitor and asked to see the three suspects, who are being held over allegations of robbery with violence and gang rape.

However, her plan was reportedly exposed when a cell sentry subjected the food to a routine inspection.

“A prison visit meant to deliver a meal instead blew a plot wide open after sharp-eyed officers at Ruai Police Station unravelled a scheme to hand remanded suspects the very tools of their escape,” DCI stated.

Items recovered

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) statement on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, officers discovered a pair of pliers and a pair of shears hidden beneath the food.

The tools are suspected to have been intended to help the three suspects break out of custody.

β€œThe 18-year-old strolled into the station reception with all the calm of an innocent visitor, requesting to see three friends held over robbery with violence and gang rape. In her hands: a plate of rice and meat, packed with what she claimed was nothing more than a meal for three suspects.”

Who were the suspects?

The suspects are accused of operating an anonymous TikTok account which they allegedly used to lure young women into meetings before attacking and robbing them of their valuables.

The discovery brought the alleged escape plan to a halt before the tools could reach the suspects.

The woman was immediately arrested as detectives launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the attempted smuggling and whether other people were involved.

The DCI warned members of the public against attempting to facilitate the escape of suspects in police custody.

However, officers became suspicious and searched the food, leading to the discovery of tools hidden beneath the meal.

β€œBut the cell sentry’s instincts proved sharper than her disguise. A routine scoop through the food led to a shocking discovery: buried beneath the meal lay a pair of pliers and a shear, cold-steel tools meant to aid the escape of the three suspects.”

The discovery foiled the alleged jailbreak plan, with the DCI stating:

β€œIn an instant, a jailbreak-in-waiting was crushed before it could hatch.”

Police are now investigating how the tools were obtained and whether the woman acted alone or was part of a wider plan to facilitate the suspects’ escape.

The three suspects remain in custody as investigations into the allegations against them continue.

“The three: Emmanuel Bosire, Ismael Arisa and Brian Gatheru are being held at the station for operating an anonymous TikTok page, using it to lure young women into meetings before gang-raping and robbing them of their valuables.”
