Kenyan motorists will not face a new fuel price increase this month after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) retained the maximum retail prices for the September 15–October 14, 2026 pricing cycle.

The maximum prices for each location remain unchanged from the previous review. However, motorists will continue to pay different maximum prices depending on where they buy fuel, with Mombasa recording lower prices than Nairobi and several inland markets.

EPRA fuel prices in major Kenyan towns

EPRA’s maximum retail prices per litre for the September 15–October 14 pricing period are:

The prices are maximum retail prices, meaning fuel stations should not charge more than the applicable EPRA ceiling for the respective location.

How much is petrol in Nairobi?

In Nairobi, Super Petrol is capped at Ksh214.03 per litre, while diesel costs a maximum of Ksh217.86 and kerosene Ksh191.38.

A motorist buying 50 litres of petrol would therefore pay a maximum of Ksh10,701.50.

In Mombasa, the same 50-litre purchase would cost Ksh10,543.50, making it Ksh158 cheaper than the Nairobi maximum.

Mombasa remains cheaper than most listed markets

Mombasa has the lowest Super Petrol price among the towns listed, at Ksh210.87 per litre. Its maximum diesel price is Ksh214.58, while kerosene is capped at Ksh188.09.

Prices are higher in several inland markets. In Meru, Super Petrol is capped at Ksh218.67 per litre, while diesel is capped at Ksh222.85.

Garissa has the highest prices among the towns in the table, with Super Petrol at Ksh220.40 per litre and diesel at Ksh224.70.

EPRA reflects differences between locations in its town-specific maximum price schedule rather than a single uniform national pump-price ceiling.

Fuel prices unchanged through October 14

The latest review keeps the applicable maximum retail prices in place from September 15 to October 14, 2026.

For motorists, the main takeaway is that there is no new increase in the maximum prices for the latest pricing cycle. However, the amount paid at the pump will continue to vary by location, with Mombasa among the cheaper markets and Garissa recording the highest prices among the towns listed above.

The figures should be read as maximum retail prices for the specified locations; individual stations may charge less than the applicable EPRA ceiling.
